Across The Universe
RNZ Concert presents a remastered version of Jeremy Ansell's 1996 series on 'The Fab Four'.
In creating the series, Ansell carefully wove together interview material, music and his own research in a series that was named 'Best Music Feature' in the 1997 New Zealand Radio Awards.

Part 1: Early, middle and late period Beatles. There were only two and a half years between the making of the Please Please Me LP in 1963 and the classic 1965 album, Rubber Soul, but what a change in song and sound. Another two years later, part of the psychedelic Magical Mystery Tour collection was banned on NZBC stations for its suggestive lyrics. The Beatles talk about the songs on those three releases, beginning with Paul McCartney’s 'I Saw Her Standing There', the first song on The Beatles’ debut LP.
