Vasilissa, ergo gaude, Quia es digna omni laude
Therefore rejoice, princess, for you are worthy of all praise
This is a fine example of Flemish music from the 15th century, by Guillaume Dufay (c1397-1474).
It was written on the occasion of the royal marriage, on 21 January 1421, of Cleofa Malatesta, daughter of Malatesta di Pandolfo, to Theodore II Palaiologos, son of the Byzantine emperor Manuel II.
