This weekend, the place for Auckland lovers to meet isn't under the boardwalk, it's not down by the riverside, but by the old band rotunda in the city's Domain.
NZ Opera is presenting a Valentine's evening edition of its outdoor concert series "Opera in the Park" in the rotunda with sopranos Michaela Cadwgan and Katherine Winitana, tenor Ipu Laga’aia and baritone Joel Amosa, all accompanied by pianist David Kelly.
Michaela Cadwgan joined RNZ Concert to talk about the show.
The New Zealand-raised, Melbourne-based singer is also back in the country to take part in a NZ Opera production of the children's opera RED! by New Zealand composer Lucy Mulgan, which will tour the nation's schools this autumn.
There's a free preview of RED! on Saturday 21 February at 11am, at the NZOpera Studio in Parnell.
