New Zealand soprano Lisette Wesseling, passed away peacefully last week at the age of 44. Her life and her career in music were celebrated at a moving funeral on Monday at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul.
Lisette, who was blind from infancy, was a leading advocate for blind people and their access to music education and performance. She recorded a fascinating programme for RNZ Concert exploring Louis Braille’s adaptation of his six-dot reading and writing system to represent the language of music. Lisette’s husband Neil Jarvis talks to Clarissa Dunn about her life.
