Palau signs Energy Act into law

8:05 am on 19 February 2016

Palau has legislated for a new Energy Administration in an attempt to completely reshape the sector.

The facility will be dedicated to coordinating and managing the country's energy to help it achieve its renewable energy goals.

The European Union Ambassador to the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs, says the National Energy Act will mean better coordination between Palau and development partners.

The only other Pacific country to have enacted such a law is the Cook Islands.
