The Kiribati government has renewed the contract of its Chief Justice, John Muria, for another two years.

Sir Muria, from Solomon Islands, has already been in the role for six years.
The president of Kiribati,Taneti Maamau, said Sir John would be able to continue making a valuable contribution to policy, judicial and legal developments in the next two years.
Sir John, who also received an offer from the Nauru government, said he was committed to the people and government of Kiribati.
He was the first indigenous Solomon Islander to be made Chief Justice of Solomon Islands and had also worked in Africa and the Caribbean.
