The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Peter O'Neill has been welcomed in Fiji for his first official visit since being elected in 2012.
Mr O'Neill and a seven member delegation received a state welcome at Nausori Airport on Sunday with a 50 man guard of honour followed by a traditional itaukei welcoming ceremony.
"We are great friends, we are family, we are Melanesian brothers, and it is a great honour, on behalf of our country, the great state of Papua New Guinea, to be here with you today," he said.
Peter O'Neill's two day visit will include bilateral discussions.
He is addressing the Fiji parliament today on the progress of preperations for this year's APEC summit in Port Moresby.

Mr O'Neill will also be the keynote speaker at a public lecture on "Pacific Regionalism" and visit the Fiji Police Special Response Unit showcasing its anti-riot capability.
