Samoa's Minister for Public Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Papalii Niko Lee Hang, has retracted his statement made to local media which claimed that the Ministry's CEO had been sacked.
According to the Samoa Observer, the minister contacted them on Thursday admitting he had given the wrong information about Afamasaga Su'a Pou Onesemo being fired.
Papalii said he was wrong as he was under the assumption the contract had been terminated.
The Public Service Commission has written to the minister to remind him that they have not terminated the services Afamasaga.
The PSC suspended Afamasaga earlier this year pending the outcome of an investigation into alleged corruption leveled against him by an overseas company.
