In Vanuatu the Supreme Court has ordered the Government to pay a member of parliament, Don Ken, a sum of $US106,000 for repairs he undertook to his state owned house.
Mr Ken was allocated the house but it was in a poor condition that, after a verbal agreement with a government official, he paid for it to be fixed up in the knowledge he would later be re-imbursed.
But the government failed to repay his costs and instead ordered him removed from the building.
Judge Oliver Saksak has ruled in the MP's favour, saying the government must pay him at least $US106,000 dollars.
