Papua New Guinea's national airline, Air Niugini, will operate its first direct commercial flight between Port Moresby and Shanghai from tomorrow.
The Shanghai flight will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Acting chief executive, Tahawar Durrani, said it was aimed at Chinese visitors and business people wanting to reach PNG and other Pacific destinations.
He said it will complement flights to Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila and Tokyo - as well as Air Nuigini's regional network - Honiara, Nadi, Australia and the Federated States of Micronesia.
Mr Durrani said it will offer convenience for the Chinese and PNG business communities and tourists, delegates attending the APEC meeting, as well as hundreds of PNG students studying in China.
