More than 8000 cases of police brutality remain before Papua New Guinea's courts.

This was revealed at PNG's Police Commissioner's Conference underway near Port Moresby.
At the conference, the country's top policemen are discussing how to address human rights abuses by police and alleged corruption within the force.
EMTV reported PNG's Police Commissioner Gary Baki saying the constabulary was linked to a very high number of cases of human rights abuses.
Abuses by police are a long-running problem, with outstanding cases of police brutality before PNG's courts stretching back to 1992.
