Samoa police have opposed the bail application for a man facing an attempted murder charge.
The owner of Samoa's biggest taro plantation, Peter Tulaga, was arrested two weeks ago after a woman was shot in the face.
TV1Samoa reported police had told the court there was a risk that Mr Tulaga would attempt to make contact with witnesses.
Defence counsel objected, saying only two people were present during the incident - the victim and the accused - and the victim was now in New Zealand seeking treatment.
Chief Justice Patu Falefatu Sapolu said he would give his decision on the bail application next Wednesday.
Mr Tulaga has not yet entered a plea.
