David Panuelo, who was sworn in last month, met with China's ambassador Huang Zheng last Tuesday.

Mr Huang said he would try to organise contributions to the fund because it was important for Micronesia's financial security.

The pair also discussed a timeframe for Mr Panuelo's proposed trip to visit China.
