Indonesian paramilitary police are on stand-by in West Papua to start ground searches for the army helicopter missing in the mountainous Pegunungan Bintang District.
Two teams of 20 mobile brigade or Brimob personnel are ready to be despatched from Jayapura reports Antara News.
Aerial searches are currently taking place for the dozen missing military personnel who were aboard the Russian built MI-17 helicopter when contact was lost late on Friday morning local time.
Two other military helicopters are tracking the missing chopper's course and search efforts are focussed around Mt Mol and Mt Aprok.
