Blood and urine samples from the victims of a suspected poisoning incident in Fiji have been sent to New Zealand for further analysis.

Fiji's deputy prime minister and minister for tourism, Viliame Gavoka, said cocktail ingredients were also being tested, using equipment not available in Fiji.

Six tourists and a local were drinking pina coladas at the 5-star Warwick Fiji last month when they fell ill and ended up in critical care in hospital.

Gavoka said they have all recovered.

He later said no illicit substances or methanol had been found in the ingredients and liquor samples tested by the Fiji police.

However, he said the government was committed to determining the cause of the incident.

He said Fiji's Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation acknowledged reports from affected guests requesting the release of their individual test results.

"Once the test results are finalised, priority will be given to updating the affected tourists and their respective High Commissions and embassies through diplomatic channels," Gavoka said.

"Legal counsel will also be sought to determine what elements of the private data can be made public to ensure compliance with privacy laws.

"The process may take up to three weeks to complete, with full results expected to become available afterwards."
