The Fiji sevens rugby teams have qualified for the Dubai 7s tournament, to be played on Sunday night.

Two wins each in pool play gave the Fiji men and women's teams their respective entry into the final four of both competition at the opening event of the 2025/2026 HSBC Sevens Series.

Fiji men defeated Argentina and South Africa in their first two pool matches but fell short against France in their third game.

France defeated Fiji 24-19 in their last pool game, while the Fijians beat Argentina 26-19 in their opening pool game.

They then accounted for South Africa, winning 28-10.

In the women's competition, the Fijiana 7s team opened their campaign in Dubai with a 19-7 win over United States of America.

They then followed that up with a 28-19 win over France, with Reapi Uluinasau claiming three tries in the game.

But the side fell to New Zealand 31-12 in their final pool game.

The semi-finals will feature Fiji against New Zealand in the semi-finals, while France will take on Australia in the men's competition.

In the women's competition, the semi-finals will see Fiji take on Australia, while New Zealand will face Japan.

Finals will be played on Monday morning New Zealand time.

The tournament and the rest of the sevens series will be played under a new format, as only the top eight teams are involved, which means there will be no quarterfinals.

The top two teams from each pools in both competition advance straight into the semi-finals.

The Fijian men's and Australian women's teams are the defending champions at the Dubai 7s while Argentina and New Zealand were series overall winners in the respective men's and women's competition in the 2024/2025 series.
