An Australian law academic says Nauruans and asylum seekers on the island are in legal limbo after the government scrapped access to the Australia High Court.
The Nauru government has terminated a treaty with Australia that allows people to appeal Supreme Court decisions to the Australia High Court without another court being established.
Macquarie University Adjunct Professor, George Newhouse, who also heads the National Justice Project in Australia, has long fought for the rights of the asylum seekers and refugees on Nauru.
He told Don Wiseman about the impact of the termination.
