There is cautious optimism that corruption in Solomon Islands can be curtailed with the tabling of two major bills in Parliament.
The Whistleblower Protection Bill and the long awaited Anti-Corruption Bill are currently being debated.
Prime Minister Rick Hou says the legislation aims to protect people who come forward with information on corruption and Mr Hou says the bills are expected to contribute to the effectiveness of the proposed anti-corruption law.
However, Ruth Liloqula from Transparency International Solomon Islands told Koro Vaka'uta there is still some concern over the legislation.
