[L to R] Steve Roach, Kirsten Warner and Bernie Griffen talking to Trevor Reekie at The Lab / Photo by Jol Mulholland
Bernie Griffen has already carved out a significant reputation for himself in New Zealand music as an industry figure, running his independent distribution company Global Routes and serving as the first chairperson of the indie label organization IMNZ. But it’s his considerable life experience that provides him with the material for his songs.
Bernie Griffen and his newly assembled band The Thin Men have just their album Salvation, recorded in Auckland at The Lab studio.
Trevor Reekie met up with Griffen, his partner and musical collaborator Kirsten Warner and longtime guitarist Steve Roach to discuss Griffen’s salvation.
