Monday December 11 is International Mountain Day - a day to celebrate mountains and the incredible role they play in our world.
It's also a great day to celebrate the Mt Arthur giant weta, Deinacrida tibiospina, which lives in the mountains of Kahurangi National Park in tussock and alpine herbfields.
This cute giant weta is under threat from rats and mice and is now classified as critically endangered.
