Air New Zealand has released ambitious plans for emissions free flying on all their smallest regional flights by 2030.
The project will cost hundreds of millions of dollars with aims for the first carbon zero flight to take off in 2026.
Figures from MBIE show domestic aviation contributed 815,000 tonnes of carbon emissions last year - the airline is hoping to change that through hydrogen, electric or hybrid options.
