School Lunch boss fronts on issues with programme rollout
Checkpoint has reported on a litany of issues experienced by some schools during the rollout of the revamped school lunch programme this term. Unpalatable lunches, meals arriving late or missing altogether, ham in food intended for Muslim students, repetitive menus. One example: butter chicken 11 times out of 17, and some schools having to buy takeaways so kids don't go hungry. The programme's expected to deliver a million "palatable" & "nutritious" lunches to about 240,000 students each week. The tax payer tab for first year is an estimated 71 million dollars. School Lunch Collective boss Paul Harvey spoke to Lisa Owen.
