The price of being single

Being single might have its advantages but the price certainly isn't one of them. It turns out, doing life solo can be expensive - much more so than being part of a couple. In the UK, analysis from investment platform Lansdown Hargreaves shows it costs thousands of dollars more a year to be single.That's because you're often paying all the rent or mortgage on your own, your internet connection probably costs the same as it would if you were sharing with others plus all the other bills you can't split with anyone. Money correspondent Susan Edmunds spoke to Lisa Owen.
