Nicola Kāwana has been a familiar face to Kiwi audiences for decades. A graduate of Toi Whakaari, Nicola's acting career spans film, television and theatre. Best known for her portrayal of Huia Samuels on Shortland Street, she's also appeared in One Lane Bridge and has performed on stage with ATC and Silo Theatre. Nicola is currently appearing in a new local drama, Tangata Pai which means good people. The eight-part series set in Taranaki centres around a bomb explosion at an anti-mining protest at a sacred Maori site. The story is told from the point of view of five characters; a rising Maori musician, a father and activist, a Chinese-Kiwi police officer, a nurse and mother and a torn politician - played by Kāwana. Nicola Kāwana joins Culture 101 for Fast Favourites. Tangata Pai is now available to stream on ThreeNow.
