Covid-19 hugely impacts world hunger
Covid-19 has had a huge impact on the number of people going hungry in the world. That's according to a yearly report published by the UN into the state of food security and nutrition worldwide. It says that nearly 690 million people went hungry in 2019 and that number could rise by between 90 and 132 million in 2020. The report has prompted a joint call to action from thirteen NZ aid agencies, including Tearfund New Zealand. Ian McInnes is the chair of the Council for International Development and CEO of Tearfund New Zealand - we asked why New Zealand aid agencies are getting involved.
