Natural Flames - the eternal flame in Murchison
All week we've been touring Aotearoa hearing about some of the more weird yet wonderful things our country has to offer. This morning we begin in Murchison, where the fire just keeps on burning. Back in 1922 a couple of farmers were hunting deep in the Tasman bush when they smelt gas, and curiosity turned that gas it into a defiant flame. Anna Thomas spoke with Steven Riley who takes tours to the Natural Flames, who explained the phenomenon.
