Robert Wiremu adapting Erebus disaster to Mozart

Maori bass baritone and vocal coach Robert Wiremu has developed a work which commemorates the Erebus air disaster in Antarctica through the lens of Mozart. Air New Zealand Flight TE901 was on a sight seeing flight in November 1979 when it crashed into Mount Erebus in Antarctica, killing all 257 people on board. Reimagining Mozart will be performed in Wanaka on March 31.

Festival director, Vanessa Stacey, gives an overview of the next three weeks featuring local and international acts at New Zealand's largest open-access arts festival. Emerging talent will be performing including recent graduates from Toi Whakaari, New Zealand Drama School.
