Recorded in 2004, the tone of this recording is reflected in the title. King set out on a US tour of small venues with just two backing singers, a bass player and guitarist, with herself on piano. This allows her to strip back the arrangements and lay bare her catalogue of 40 years of classic songs - from being a Brill Building house songwriter in the 60's, to releasing albums under her own name since the 70's.
