Concerns over new powers being given to police

Police will soon be able to take photos and gather intelligence in public spaces. The government is changing legislation to expand their powers after court rulings found they were initially acting illegally by taking photos of rangatahi. The Police Minister Mark Mitchell says the rulings created uncertaintanty about what they were allowed to do, and this change fixes that. Privacy Foundation spokesperson and Auckland University Associate Professor Gehan Gunasekara spoke to Charlotte Cook.
