Auckland fuel tax has no exemption for off-road vehicles

Aucklanders will be paying an extra 11.5 cents a litre to fuel up from Sunday. A law giving Auckland Council the power to impose the regional tax passed through its final stages at Parliament last night. But farmers, orchardists and boaties are furious there's no exemption for their off-road vehicles and say a proposed rebate system is a bureacratic nightmare
