Royal Commisson: Abuse survivors demand action over failings

Survivors of abuse in state and church care say it's now critical the government moves quickly to set up an independent system to compensate them for what they have suffered.

A Royal Commission report has castigated the Crown over its failings to provide adequate redress saying it feared the cost of opening the floodgates and settling with an unknown number of claimants.

The Commission wants urgent action to restore mana to survivors and lay out a clear path to help put right the deep harm done to them.
