Mayors are delighted with the first allocations from a billion-dollar infrastructure fund which is fast-tracking the construction of thousands of homes.
The government has given $179 million from its Infrastructure Acceleration Fund to seven projects in places including Rotorua and Bay of Plenty.
The money will pay for roads and pipes, clearing the way for developers to build houses.
