New Zealand's largest primary school has removed dozens of students from its school roll, blaming the pandemic for students disappearing.
Teachers at Finlayson Park Primary school say they are at breaking point as the Omicron outbreak continues to affect learning and attendance.
The decile 1 school says just over half of students are attending school regularly and its been forced to take 40 students from the school roll because they've been missing for more than 20 days.
Reporter Leonard Powell went to the staffroom to meet the teachers.
The Ministry of Education's Operations and Integration leader Sean Teddy said in a statement the government's attendance and engagement strategy that launched last month aims to tackle a decade-long decline in school attendance and engagement.
He said this will build on an $88 million attendance package already announced in the Budget.
