A 16-year-old is recovering after surgery for injuries he received when a tornado hit the Kāpiti Coast town of Paraparaumu yesterday, demolishing the building he was sleeping in.
The tornado was one of several over the last three days and a big clean-up is underway in affected areas, including Nelson's Upper Moutere, Waitara in Taranaki, Katikati in Bay of Plenty, East Auckland as well as Paraparaumu.
