A new report warns urgent action is needed in New Zealand's aviation industry to meet the requirements of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
Aotearoa ranks sixth in the world for it's per-capita emissions, and researchers put this down to our remote location and poor public land transport system.
They say adopting electric aircrafts and sustainable aviation fuels won't do enough to reduce emissons, and more drastic measures need to be considered.
Co-author of the report and the deputy director of Victoria University's Institute for Governance and Policy, Paul Callister, spoke to Guyon Espiner.
