A political spat has broken out over the Government's proposal to extend the period of time asylum seekers can be detained.
National and the Greens both oppose the mass arrivals bill - that will increase the detention period without a warrant from four to 28 days.
They say it's unnecessary - even wrong - while the Immigration Minister is accusing them of being "wilfully blind" to the security risks.
