Ray Davies

As the leader of legendary band The Kinks and as a solo artist, Ray Davies is considered one of the finest songwriters of the past 50 years. Songs like Waterloo Sunset, Days, Victoria and Sunny Afternoon have become standards over the years. Ray Davies has teamed up with a few of his musical friends to revisit many of those songs. The result is 'See My Friends' a 15-track album containing collaborations with Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, Jon Bon Jovi and Metallica, among others. The project started when Ray met up with Alex Chilton, of the cult band Big Star in 2009. The two recorded a couple of Kinks classics together. It turned out to be one of the last sessions Alex Chilton took part in before his death. Marty Duda spoke to Ray Davies about 'See My Friends' and how he came to record with Alex Chilton.
