Nights for Wednesday 11 June 2025
8:10 North Island's loss, Christchurch's gain?
According to the latest census figures, more people moved from north to south than the other way around in the period between 2018 and 2023 - and most of them landed in Canterbury.
Most northerners would agree that the South is indeed a beautiful place, but isn't it colder? Quieter? A nice place to visit, sure, but to live? Is the shiny new Christchurch the city of the future?
Alex Casey, senior writer at The Spinoff, is a former Aucklander who made the move to Ōtautahi Christchurch about two and a half years ago and is now an unofficial ambassador for our largest southern city.

8:20 Men: Schedule a 'Wednesday Waffle' for your friends
Research shows that men sometimes struggle to form strong and active friendships in adulthood.
Australian Zachary Perez's method of keeping up with his dear but dispersed male friends is to have everyone send in short videos of themselves 'waffling' about what's going on in their lives. It could be light - a favourite album they've been listening to - or serious - engagements, babies born, or tough times.
The 'Wednesday Waffle' has attracted a lot of interest online. He joins Emile Donovan for Men's Health Week to explain.

9:25 Fred Award-winner Angella Dravid
Angella Dravid took home the Fred Award for best show at the 2025 New Zealand Comedy Festival.
She joins Emile Donovan to share how jealousy was the inspiration for her award-winning show I'm Happy For You, how she navigated being open about her time in prison as a 19-year old, and whether a magician (or comedian) should reveal their tricks.
