Nights headed over to Tasmania, where the fallout from the election continues. The Nationals have announced they will split from the Liberal Party after days of negotiations between the two sides failed to produce a coalition agreement. It's the first time since the 1980s that the two parties have failed to reach a formal agreement, the first of which was signed back in 1923.
While the Liberal Party was shunned at the polls by the Australian electorate, the National Party fared much better, retaining most of their seats. One of the key sticking points was the Coalition's nuclear power policy, which was put forward during the election and is now facing growing calls to be scrapped.
Pacific Editor at Australian Associated Press, Ben McKay joined Emile Donovan to explain more about what's going on and gave us a rundown on how the situation might play out politically.
