Many of us may be surprised to know that they depend on us also, for donations to keep the service funded.
Today is the organisation's 'Giving Day' with community-led fundraising events nationwide.
There's an ambitious $2 million target, with all funds going towards the upgrade or rebuild of 13 ageing ambulance stations.
