Back in the early '80s a number of bands emerged in Dunedin, which gave the city its sound. There was Sneaky Feelings, The Clean and The Verlaines, all on the Flying Nun label.
The Chills were founded by Martin Phillips in 1980 and The Verlaines in 1981 by Graeme Downes.
Nearly 35 years on, both bands are performing as part of the 'Dunedin Double' at NZ Festival.
