Toa Fraser's film The Dead Lands showcased Maori weaponry and hand to hand combat. Expect to see more in a new ten part Maori TV series, filmed around Rotorua. Kairakau is ambitious,and it's a first - a ten part docu-drama that draws on historic events and oral traditions. The many fight scenes are choreographed by Wetini Mitai-Ngatai who's an expert in Maori weapons - how to make them and how to use them. Lynn Freeman talks to Wetini and series producer Lana Northcroft.
