Australia's incumbent Prime Minister Anthony Albanese re-won his seat in the 2025 Australian Federal Election last night, ending a heated election which saw opposition leader Peter Dutton run a very "Trumpian" campaign.
Veteran political journalist Barrie Cassidy covered the election for Guardian Australia with his podcast Back To Back Barries, co-hosted with Tony Barry.
Cassidy is the former senior press secretary for then-PM Bob Hawke, and long-time host of ABC TV's political discussion programme Insiders.
He joins Jim to discuss the results of the election.
