1.5 million New Zealanders will be aged over 65 by 2061, and if you're planning on retiring in the next twenty years you might have to wait until you're 67 to claim superannuation.
The retirement commissioner Diane Maxwell made this recommendation in her 3-yearly review of retirement income policy, which was handed over to the government just before Christmas.
It was also announced that if you have moved to New Zealand from another country you need to be here 25 years before you can qualify for super.
