In his book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell uses the 10,000 hour theory repeatedly - saying the key to achieving world-class expertise in any skill, is by practicing whatever the activity is, in the correct way, for a total of around 10,000 hours.

However an article on Medium argues there's more to becoming an expert than putting in the hours.
