Longer parliamentary terms and more MPs suggested

From The Panel, 4:35 pm on 26 June 2019

A report has suggested that longer parliamentary terms would enable the Government to better look at issues long term, and avoid what some call the "short term-ism" that can afflict policy making.

The report out called "Foresight, insight and oversight - enhancing long term governance through better parliamentary scrutiny", looks at the quality of long term decision making. Also suggested was an increase of MPs from 120 to 150.

Co-author of the study Jonathan Boston explains the reasons behind the recommendations.
