Moa has more than doubled its market share in supermarkets since it took distribution back inhouse in October last year. It now claims fourth place with 8.7 percent of sales of craft beer in New Zealand.
Over the same period, many other brands' market shares were flat or falling, particularly market leader Monteiths, whose market share peaked at about 35 percent earlier this year but had fallen to just above 25 percent in October.
Monteiths is owned by Heineken.
Moa's chief executive Geoff Ross said the market for craft beer is still relatively small, but growing fast.
Yesterday, the company reported a $3.2 million net loss for the six months ended September, but sales volumes jumped 90 percent from the same six months last year.
