The event, which is the biggest agricultural trade show in the Southern Hemisphere, normally takes place in June but was postponed this year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

National New Zealand Fieldays Society chief executive Peter Nation said the event would look a bit different this year - instead of gumboots and beanies people would be wearing bucket hats and jandals, but the event would be better than ever.

"The contractors that work from scratch to create a small city are looking forward to building their sites in the sun instead of in near freezing temperatures."

Work to create the event space at Mystery Creek will begin in two weeks time.

"For over 50 years, Fieldays has been the place to be for members of the agricultural community across the country. This year will be no exception. We're looking forward to welcoming everyone to join in on one of our most iconic events but this time, we'll be doing it all in the sunshine. Same same, but different'

Fieldays 2022 begins on 30 November and ends on 3 December.
