Crowd favourite David Liti was welcomed with a loud haka from his old school, One Tree Hill College, while members of his family reached out to hug and congratulate him.
Mr Liti said he was overwhelmed by the welcome party and would "try not to get used to it".
"I wake up each morning and wonder if I'm dreaming," he said.
The team will celebrate with an official welcome home party at Novotel, with family and sponsors present.
