A Christchurch man has admitted charges of murdering his neighbour at a social housing complex.
Colin Albert Hoani, 59, appeared in the High Court at Christchurch on Friday where he entered the unexpected plea.
Police charged him after the death of Valmai McFie, 67, whose body was found outside her flat on Macgibbon Place in Spreydon on 20 July this year.
Hoani will be sentenced at a later date.
